KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Former chief secretary to the government Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid has been appointed Malaysia's chef-de-mission for the London Olympic Games next year.
Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) honorary secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi said Ahmad Sarji's appointment was endorsed by the OCM at its meeting on Saturday.
Sieh said the meeting also appointed Malaysian National Cycling Federation deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamed as chef-de-mission for the SEA Games in Jakarta and Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia president Datuk Syed Mustaffa Syed Ali as chef-de-mission for the Games in Palembang.
The 2011 SEA Games will be held in Jakarta and Palembang from Nov 11 to 25.
"The trio were nominated last month and endorsed by OCM on Saturday," he told Bernama Wednesday.
Ahmad Sarji is Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation president.
